Andre Ward v Arthur Abraham - Press ConferenceWBA Super Middleweight Champion Andre Ward, who is undefeated in the ring lost another round to his promoter on Tuesday.

According to a press release sent out by Ward’s promoter, Goossen Promotions, a Los Angeles Superior Court once again ruled against Ward in his latest attempt to break free of his contract with the promotional company.

It was ruled by Judge Holly E. Kendig that Ward’s contract did not violate Section 2855 of the California Labor Code. It was also acknowledged by the court that Ward had lost two prior arbitration hearings in which Goossen’s contract was upheld by the California State Athletic Commision.

CSAC’s arbitrator, Andy Foster, Executive Director for the state agency, ruled in April that Ward’s contract is valid through to Nov. 8, 2016.

The arbitrator also ruled in June of 2013 that Goossen’s contract valid. Ward tried again in December of 2013 to have the contract ruled invalid.

Ward filed suit earlier this month in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, Oakland Division, once again, against Goossen, claiming that the promoter violated the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act by not making timely disclosures for fights that took place between 2004 and 2012.

As reported by Yahoo Sports, Goossen has filed a counter suit seeking ten million dollars in damages for defamation against Ward.
