alantez foxFor any fighter in any combat sport, a fight falling through is a stressful thing especially when it happened last minute.  All the time and training along with the hard work all goes down the drain not to mention the potential money that would come as a result.
While it bothers some others may see it as a blessing in disguise.  Alantez Fox (18-0-1, 7 KO’s) was scheduled to fight (April 20th) against Josue Ovando (14-9-1, 11KO’s) but the fight was called off on the day of due to a shocking medical discovery in Ivan do.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be fighting this evening ladies and gentleman,” stated Fox via social media. “My opponent found out today that he has a brain tumor. So I’m upset, but the fact of the matter is this is a blessing in disguise. My prayers go out to the family of Josue Ovando as well as Josue himself. I want to thank you all who are constantly celebrating and supporting my continued success. Hopefully, we have another date for you soon. Thank you so much and please keep Ovando and his family in your prayers.”
Fox has approached the situation with poise and great sportsmanship. Hopefully, Ovando can pull through but had he of fought, the end results of what could have happened would have been far worse. Fox may have lost an opportunity to better himself as a fighter but in his actions, he has bettered himself as a person.
