Four names have been added to the line-up for the Betfair Prizefighter Light Middleweights III and promoter Eddie Hearn has added a new knockout bonus, with £2,000 handed out for every stoppage at York Hall on November 3, live on Sky Sports.
Scottish southpaw Kris Carslaw, Birmingham’s Terry Carruthers, Middlesex boxer Ryan Toms and unbeaten prospect Larry Ekundayo complete the eight-fighter line-up all hoping to claim the £32,000 winners’ cheque.
Carslaw (16-2) fought Brian Rose for the British light-middleweight title in June, pushing the Blackpool man the distance. Two-time Southern Area title winner Toms (11-3-1) is looking to bounce back from his English title defeat to Erick Ochieng in September and Carruthers (11-13-6) may get the chance to avenge his 2010 British Masters title defeat to Carslaw if the pair are matched at York Hall.
Ekundayo comes into the tournament off the back of an exciting start to his professional career. The 30 year old made waves with an impressive debut in March and followed it up with a convincing points win in a Prizefighter Prospects bout prior to June’s International Heavyweights tournament.
“I think the new knockout bonus will make things very interesting,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “The last Prizefighter in Liverpool was a cracker but we didn’t have one stoppage or KO in the event. It’s what the fans want to see and with this incentive, I believe the fighters will be more inclined to get their opponent out of there before the final bell.”
The quartet join Craig McEwan, Peter Vaughan, Curtis Valentine and Nav Mansouri in the eight-fighter knockout competition.
