Brandon Adams vs. Vito Gasparyan

Brandon Adams vs. Vito Gasparyan The TV main event, and second junior middleweight semi-final matchup, was between the most experienced Boxcino tournament competitors, Brandon Adams, who would be making his 5th appearance inside the tournament against Vito Gasparyan. It was well documented that Adams and Gasparyan were friends, in fact they’ve even trained together in the past when Adams was still extremely inexperienced.

For two fighters familiar with one another, both Adams and Gasparyan took time to feel out the other in the first round. Neither fighter wanted to take any real initiative. And because of that the round stayed pretty even.

However, Adams athleticism started to separate him. He was able to place his punches a little better and he was selecting his moments with a real maturity. Adams stayed in closed quarters and shot to the body with hard punches. It was relentless at times, but he could’ve pushed the gas a bit more.

Gasparyan was getting bullied, but his problem was he tried fighting fire with fire. Instead of mixing up his attack or trying to create distance, Gasparyan simply allowed Adams to fight his best fight while trying to match him the whole time. It was an awful plan and it never had a chance of working.

A huge hematoma appeared on Gasparyan’s ear somewhere along the earlier rounds, but it grew to grotesque measures. Adams had a dominating lead and was never in any dangerous of losing this fight when the referee stopped the bout in the 6th round due to Gasparyan’s ear.

Adams will now meet John Thompson in the junior middleweight Boxcino tournament finals. It will be a classic mauler versus boxer matchup. Adams will be the favorite, but Thompson looked better tonight.
