The battle for Ohio will be taking place in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand. The venue is known as the home of the champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr., so it should be no surprise that the promoter for the PBC on NBC fight between Adrien Broner and Shawn Porter is Mayweather Promotions.
Rumor in the industry is that many of the big fights on PBC will be in Las Vegas and promoted by Mayweather Promotions. So as to why the battle for Ohio is taking place in Las Vegas, there is the answer.
Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe was on hand at the final press conference. He expects a good fight between two fighters with contrasting styles.
“It’s a tremendous fight with two young fighters,” Ellerbe said. “Both fighters are coming to us from Ohio, Ohio against the world. I really love both fighters. We have two different type of styles here.”
In breaking down the fight, Ellerbe says that the two different styles between fighters will mesh for a good fight.
“Shawn is a very aggressive fighter who puts a tremendous amount of pressure on you,” stated Ellerbe. “You have Adrian, who is a very talented fighter who’s looking to box your ear off. With those two styles, you can’t expect nothing but a great fight come June 20th.
Ellerbe says Mayweather Promotions has promoted some of the biggest fights in history and fans should expect no less on the PBC platform.
“It’s a tremendous platform for Mayweather Promotions. We’ve promoted the biggest fight in the history of the sport. And it’s a great feeling to be a part of the PBC family. We stepped right on in with one of the biggest names in the sport in Adrien Broner to promote this event. We expect a great turnout and millions of fans to tune in on NBC and on Saturday June the 20th. It’s going to be a great fight.”
