SRNA0842Hugo Centeno Jr. (22-0, 12 KOs) improves his undefeated record by scoring a devastating knockout victor over James De La Rosa (23-3, 13 KOs.) This was definitely the type of performance Centeno wanted to give against a game fighter who is just coming off a victory against Alfredo Angulo.

In the opening round not much action was taking place, both fighters were remaining patient and looking for their opportunity to strike. Then De La Rosa lunged in and Centeno surprisingly scores a first round knockdown off a jab. De La Rosa did not seem too staggered and maintained his composure to finish the round.

Both fighters continued to fight from a distance despite the first round drama, and De La Rosa slowly began outworking Centino, but at times got countered on his way in. This managed to slowed down De La Rosa, and reduce the pace of the fight.

In the 5th round Centeno landed a hard looping left hand while De La Rosa lunged in and ended up scoring a devastating knockout. The referee immediately stopped the fight as soon as De La Rosa hit the canvas face first.

Centeno at age 23 definitely displayed an impressive performance that will keep fight fans keeping a close eye on the prospect. He certainly showed he has the skills, and natural ability to be a top contender in the light middleweight division in his seemingly bright future.
