Haroon Khan’s scheduled contest in Wigan this Saturday has been cancelled due to his opponent being involved in a car accident.

Khan was set to face Francisco Ortega of Spain at the Robin Park Centre but the 28-year-old has had to pull out due to the accident in his homeland.

Due to the short notice, a subsequent replacement could not be lined up in time.

Haroon Khan, said: “First and foremost I wish Francisco a speedy recovery. It’s very unfortunate news and I hope he can get back to full health soon. I’m disappointed not to be fighting this weekend because I’ve been training hard since my last outing in Blackpool last month. I’m just going to knuckle down now and spend the extra time in the gym until I can get another fight lined up soon.”

News about Khan’s next fight will be announced in due course.
