Hennessy Sports are proud to introduce Travis Dickinson to the MaxiNutrition Knockout, which will be shown live on Channel 5.
Fighting in the second set of MaxiNutrition Knockout quarter-finals on March 22 at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, Travis takes on Danny McIntosh with the English light heavyweight title on the line.
Hometown: Newcastle/Gateshead
Professional record: 15 wins (5 knockouts), 1 defeats and 0 draws
Nickname: Tasty – It came from when my brother (John-Lewis Dickinson) was on Sky and they said: ‘His younger brother Travis is very tasty,’ and it just stuck.
Titles: Prizefighter 2011 light heavyweight champion and English light heavyweight title challenger.
Career highlight: So far I’d say winning Prizefighter.
Aspirations: I’d just love to win that British title and then move on from there.
It would mean the absolute world to me, obviously my brother has one so it would be good for both of us to have one. It’s what I’ve always wanted since I’ve started boxing, that was always in my sights, a Lonsdale belt.
I’d like to have a rematch with Bob Ajisafe as he beat me last year for the English light heavyweight title and that’s the only blemish on my record, so it would be good to get back in with him and beat him.
Preparations: I’ve trained the hardest I’ve ever done in my life, I’m in the best shape of my life and I’m going to show it to everyone.
I’ve been doing a lot different, I’ve been more focussed – in the passed I haven’t always been 100 percent dedicated, but this time I am. I’ve done nothing else but train and I feel the best I’ve ever felt.
The MaxiNutrition Knockout: It’s absolutely great to be a part of it, it’s an unbelievable opportunity. Live on Channel 5 – everyone has Channel 5 so everyone can watch it. It’s going to get me recognised and make a big name for myself.
Hopefully I’m going to go out and win it and hopefully all the fans will see that.
Who Travis considers his biggest threat in the competition: I’m taking it one fight at a time to be honest, so I’m fighting Danny McIntosh first on March 22nd in Sheffield, so I need to take care of him.
What the fans can expect: They can expect explosive nights, explosive fights and some really good boxing.
Life outside of boxing: I really like to spend time with my girlfriend, Joanne, my daughter, my nieces and my nephews. I enjoy taking my dogs out and I love my motorbikes and riding them in the summer and a good night out.
Favourite films: I’d say Gladiator, Rocky, Braveheart, I like tend to like violent films, but I also enjoy my comedies as I like a good laugh: Man About Dog and Adam Sandler films.
Favourite music: Everything, I like all kinds; Rave to Indie and Irish. I really like Mumford and Sons and Arctic Monkeys and I’ve seen them live.
