Cosme Rivera will fight Lee Purdy for the IBF International welterweight title at the Wembley Arena in Betfair’s ‘London’s Finest’ on Saturday night live on Sky Sports following Carson Jones’ withdrawal due to illness.

Former World title challenger Rivera is well known to the UK when his last visit ended in an exciting KO victory over James Hare for the World Boxing Federation welterweight title. Rivera went on to fight some big names in the division including Andre Berto, Alfredo Angulo and a unified World title challenge against Zab Judah.

“We’re disappointed to hear the news late last night that Carson was unable to make his flight over to the UK due to illness,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “We know how he feels because Lee was in the same situation in fight week in December for their previously cancelled clash. We worked tirelessly last night and were delighted to secure Rivera who was approved by the IBF as a suitable contender. Both have explosive styles and we expect a great fight on Saturday.”
