Scott Quigg will defend his WBA Super Bantamweight title on the undercard of Carl Froch’s mammoth WBA and IBF Super Middleweight title defence against George Groves at the sold-out Phones 4u Arena in Manchester on November 23, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The Bury star met Yoandris Salinas at The O2 on October 5 in a fight that ended in a majority draw. The 26 year old is delighted to be getting the chance to defend the title so soon, and says he aims to impress against an opponent to be named next week.

“It’s great to be out again so soon and in Manchester too,” said Quigg. “I was a bit gutted not to get the ‘W’ against Salinas as I felt that I deserved it. It was a tough fight but one that I felt that I came on very strong in at the end.

“That fight is in the past now though and I’m ready to defend my belt and do so in style. It’s going to be a massive occasion with Carl and George’s fight set to be one of the biggest in Britain for a long time, so I’m thrilled to be involved.”

Quigg joins Matchroom Sport’s latest signing Stephen Smith on the undercard of the Battle of Britain, and promoter Eddie Hearn says Scott and Stephen will be a big part of a huge night of boxing.

“I’m delighted to add Scott to the huge bill on November 23,” said Hearn. “As Britain’s newest World champion, it’s great to be able to let him defend his title so quickly after the Salinas fight and he’s already in the gym raring to go.
