In 2017 Katie Taylor and Jessica McCaskill went to war in the ring. It was not that big of a fight then because it was early in both of their careers. Taylor won a unanimous decision in an action packed fight and the two moved on.

Taylor became the undisputed champion at lightweight in 2019 in a fight against Delfine Persoon. Since becoming undisputed Taylor moved up in weight and won a title at super lightweight and defended her undisputed lightweight titles on three occasions.

McCaskill has only suffered two losses in her career with the last one being against Taylor. Since then she has gone on to face three big names in women’s boxing with the most notable being Cecilia Braekhus. In 2020 McCaskill became the undisputed welterweight champion by defeating Braekhus and has since gone on to defend those titles successfully against the Colombian fighter.

There has been a lot of talk about Taylor fighting Amanda Serrano and both sides have stories as to why that is not happening. McCaskill has plenty of options available in three weight classes right not but the fight that she and her manager Rick Ramos want to get is a rematch with Taylor.

“Jessica McCaskill and I worked hard for our position,” stated Ramos via social media. “We have 20 women calling us out. Some deserve it and some don’t. We want a REMATCH with Katie Taylor. We deserve it. No one believed in us. We did this with HARD WORK and not much else. This is truly how I feel. We NEVER said NO to an opponent and I pray that Jessica gets what she deserves. “

The rematch between these two would be huge today. As previously mentioned, when they faced off the first time it was still plenty early in their career. Now that the two are big names in women’s boxing and have the accomplishments to back it up this could be something huge and special. All that is left to go is for the fighters and their teams to come to terms.
