Another title fight added to this weekend’s fight card in Berlin! Robert Woge (11-0, 10 KOs) takes on Dariusz Sek (19-0-1, 7 KOs) as the main support to the WBO Cruiserweight Championship between Marco Huck (35-2-1, 25 KOs) and Ola Afolabi (19-2-4, 9 KOs). The fight against the currently unbeaten southpaw will be a special one for the German. For the first time ever in his professional career, Woge will step into the ring as the defending champion and put his IBF Intercontinental Title on the line.
Woge captured the belt at the very same place where he will make his premiere defense. February 2 saw the 29-year-old win a real battle against Hakim Zoulikha at the arena in the east of Berlin. “That was pretty exciting back in February. Zoulikha caught me with a shot to my left ear in round one, which resulted in an injury to the eardrum. I battled through the pain and finished him off in round eleven”, said Woge. “The fans ringside were pushing me and I kept going. It was a huge relieve when I landed that devastating shot to knock him out. I was absolutely over the moon. “
Of course, the prodigy of coach Ulli Wegner is hoping for a replicate of his previous performance at the Max-Schmeling-Halle. However, it will not be an easy task against Dariusz Sek. The 26-year-old challenger is just like the champion still undefeated as a professional. So far, he has stepped into the ring on 20 occasions, almost twice as often as Woge. Therefore, the German knows that he has a real challenge at hand. “Sek is younger than me, but he has gained a lot of experience over the course of four years since turning pro and he still has to taste defeat. These type of guys are tough to crack. I am looking forward to this challenge.”
The fact that the Pole is a southpaw does not bother Woge in the slightest. “I fought southpaws before and I am still unbeaten. I can promise one thing: it will most definitely be another exciting fight – I am known for being entertaining.”
