Darren Barker will parade his IBF World middleweight title belt at Stamford Bridge on tomorrow night when his beloved Chelsea take on Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The Londoner dug deep to rip the belt from Daniel Geale in Atlantic City on Saturday night and is looking forward to watching Jose Mourinho’s side take on The Villains.
Barker used the facilities at the west London club in the build-up to the fight, and the 31 year old season ticket holder can’t wait to get to see his first game as a World champion.
“It’s great to be back with the title and I can’t wait to show it off at the Bridge,” said Barker. “The club has been fantastic to me and I was told I got a great reception when they put a picture up and announced it to the crowd on Sunday against Hull, so hopefully it’ll be even bigger tomorrow night when I’m there.”
Following Barker’s appearance on the pitch tomorrow, he is lined up for some high profile media appearances while promoter Eddie Hearn works behind the scenes on the champion’s first defence, likely to be Felix Sturm in London in December.
